Greece travel packages from Magnificent Travel cover Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, and island combinations in itineraries running 5 to 14 days. All packages include a licensed English-speaking guide, hotels with daily breakfast, ferry or flight connections between islands, private transfers, and entrance fees. Private tours depart on your chosen dates; small group options follow fixed schedules.

Greece has 18 UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the Acropolis of Athens, the Delphi archaeological site, the medieval city of Rhodes, the Thessaloniki Paleochristian and Byzantine monuments, and the Delos island sanctuary. Standard travel packages focus on Athens plus the Cyclades islands, which combine Classical archaeology with the blue-domed Cycladic architecture most associated with Greece in international travel media.

What Greece Travel Packages Cover

Athens provides the program's foundation: the Acropolis with the Parthenon (completed 438 BC, still the most visited ancient monument in Europe), the Erechtheion and the Porch of the Caryatids, the Propylaea gateway, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the New Acropolis Museum (opened 2009, houses the Parthenon frieze sections not in the British Museum). The Agora (civic centre of Classical Athens) and the Plaka neighbourhood make up the second day. A licensed archaeologist guide is required by Greek law for the Acropolis; this is included in all packages.

Island Options: Santorini, Mykonos, and Others

Santorini is the most booked island extension. The caldera (a volcanic crater partly submerged by the sea) provides the cliff-edge villages of Oia and Fira, with 300-metre drops to the sea. A caldera boat cruise visits the hot springs, the volcanic islet of Nea Kameni, and the Akrotiri Bronze Age excavation site (a Minoan city buried by the Thera eruption of approximately 1628 BC, ongoing excavation since 1967). Mykonos is typically added for 1 to 2 nights after Santorini, known for the windmills district, the Chora labyrinth, and the ferry connection to Delos (a 30-minute crossing to one of the most significant ancient sanctuaries in Greece, no overnight accommodation permitted on the island).

Suggested Packages by Duration

5 days: Athens (3 nights) with day trip to Cape Sounion (70 km, Temple of Poseidon, 440 BC). Best for city-focused visits and business trip extensions.

8 days: Athens (2 nights) + Santorini (3 nights) + Mykonos (2 nights). This is the most booked Greece package length. Covers the Acropolis, the caldera, Oia village, and the Mykonos windmills.

12 days: Adds Crete (3 nights) after Mykonos, including Knossos Palace (Minoan, 1700 BC) and the Samaria Gorge (18 km, 5 hours). Or replaces Mykonos with the Classical mainland circuit (Delphi, Meteora).

Best Time for a Greece Travel Package

April through June and September through October are the best months. The Acropolis is manageable before August heat (which reaches 38 degrees at midday). Santorini ferries have available berths and island accommodation is not fully booked. July and August are peak season: Santorini accommodation sells out months in advance, the Acropolis queue can reach 3 hours without a timed entry ticket, and Mykonos prices peak at 3 to 4 times the off-season rate.

The Athens to Santorini connection is typically a 2-hour domestic flight or a 7-hour high-speed ferry. The Santorini to Mykonos connection is a 2-hour ferry. All ferry and flight bookings are arranged and included in the package price.

Five-day Athens-only packages cost approximately 900 to 1,400 USD per person based on double occupancy. Yes. Greek law (Law 710/1977) requires a licensed guide for all groups at archaeological sites in Greece. A licensed archaeologist guide is included in all Magnificent Travel Greece packages for the Acropolis visit. The standard Acropolis program covers the Parthenon, Erechtheion, Propylaea, and Temple of Athena Nike over approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Standard Santorini programs include: 2 to 3 nights in a boutique cliff-side hotel in Oia or Fira (caldera-view rooms), a caldera boat cruise (visiting the volcanic islet of Nea Kameni, the hot springs, and the pumice beach), and a guided visit to the Akrotiri Bronze Age excavation site. Oia village sunset viewing is the most popular evening activity and requires no guide.

Yes. Private tours are available for families with children of any age. The Acropolis is fully accessible by paved path (no steps required). Santorini's Akrotiri is a covered excavation site, suitable for all ages. The caldera boat cruise takes approximately 3 hours and is calm-water sailing in the caldera bay. Mykonos has a beach club culture that works for all ages.

The Plaka neighbourhood at the base of the Acropolis hill is the standard base for Athens programs. Hotels here are within 10 minutes' walk of the Acropolis entrance. Syntagma Square is 15 minutes on foot and provides access to the Parliament building, the National Garden, and the metro system. Magnificent Travel uses hotels in the Plaka or Monastiraki areas by default.

Yes. Crete can be added after Santorini or Mykonos on packages of 10 days or more. A 3-night Crete program covers Knossos Palace (the Minoan palace complex, 1700 BC, the largest Bronze Age site in the Aegean), Heraklion Archaeological Museum (Minoan artefacts including the Phaistos Disc), and the Samaria Gorge (18 km, a full-day walk). The ferry from Santorini to Crete takes approximately 2 hours.

Delphi is not included in standard island-focused packages. It is included in mainland Greece escorted tours and can be added as a day trip from Athens (3 hours by road) on extended programs. See Greece escorted tours for programs that include Delphi, Meteora, and Olympia, or day tours in Greece for the Delphi day excursion.
